A Maine native, Patrick graduated from Tufts University in 2008 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army. After attending the Infantry and Airborne Schools at Ft. Benning, GA, he received orders to Ft. Bragg, NC, where he passed Special Forces Assessment & Selection. Upon earning his Green Beret, he was assigned to 1st Special Forces Group in Okinawa, Japan. He served on an Operational Detachment-Alpha (ODA) for three years, deploying to Afghanistan and throughout the Asia-Pacific. He left the Army in 2014 to attend Simmons College, where he received a Master of Science in Library & Information Science. He now lives outside Boston and works at the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University.
