Andrew grew up in Maryland before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served five years as an intelligence translator and was stationed out of Camp Pendleton, CA. He completed two tours in Afghanistan, in 2010-2011, and 2011-2012, finishing his service as a Sergeant. Andrew enrolled as a junior at Columbia University immediately following his military service in 2012, but got turned around and took the long road out, graduating in 2015. At Columbia, he majored in Middle Eastern Studies, and wrote his thesis on Islamic finance. He served two terms as the Treasurer for the Military Veterans of Columbia University and has participated in a wide number of veteran programs in New York. He is an active member of both Columbia Veterans, the Columbia veteran alumni group, and the GS Alumni Network, where he is a member of the outreach committee. His hobbies include blues dancing and beer drinking. He works as a consultant out of Oliver Wyman’s New York office, traveling widely.
