Brent grew up in Central New York. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a BS in History. Upon graduation, he commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps. During his eight years as an artillery officer he deployed to East Asia and Afghanistan, and he also completed additional assignments in the UAE, Jordan, and Kuwait before leaving active duty. He holds his Master of Public Health from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and his Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He is married to Courtney, a teacher, and they have a three-year old son and Labrador Retriever. In his free time, he enjoys golf, hockey, skiing, graphic art, wood working, and approaching every NFL season with a sense of optimism for the Buffalo Bills.
