Christopher Vazquez grew up in the Bronx, New York and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2009. He served as Signals Intelligence/Reconnaissance Marine for five and a half years and completed three sea deployments. Chris later served three years in the Florida Army National Guard as a Fire Support Specialist. His first exposure to health care occurred in the military where he learned how to treat casualties sustained in combat. Driven by a desire to serve his community and the health disparities affecting veteran and underserved populations, Chris began pursuing a career in medicine when he departed from the service. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology at Pomona College in 2019 and matriculated into the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2020. He is currently a first-year medical student and in his free time enjoys following sports, the outdoors, music, and movies.
