Doug graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2007 with a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in Japanese. He holds graduate degrees from Georgetown University and the Naval War College. He was a Navy Surface Warfare Officer, with assignments afloat in Japan and ashore as a Master Instructor of Political Science at the Naval Academy. He is a 2018 J.D. Candidate at the University of Chicago Law School, where he is Managing Editor of the Chicago Journal of International Law and Founder of the Law School Veterans organization. He will clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit following graduation and plans to move home to Washington, DC following his clerkship to practice international trade and national security law.
