Hance started his career in USMC Amphibious Reconnaissance as a Scout Sniper but discovered that medicine is more impactful than a trigger during a conflict. After his enlistment ended, he joined the Army National Guard as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant working in hospitals and clinics in multiple Operational Theaters. Between deployments, he completed his Bachelor of Health Science degree at Campbell University and applied to medical school while deployed in 2020. Hance started the MD degree program at The Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2021. Hance is interested in pursuing a surgical residency in general surgery and research in surgical oncology. While in medical school, Hance is continuing to serve with his Special Forces Group as a Medic. Additionally, Hance works with Team Rubicon, a disaster relief non-profit, as a medic and current Clay Hunt Fellow. In his free time, Hance enjoys alpine skiing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
