Jake received an undergraduate degree in International Politics from Georgetown University, a Masters degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University, and a J.D. from Stanford. He was commissioned into the Navy via the George Washington University ROTC and was certified as a nuclear engineer while aboard USS GEORGIA. Jake twice deployed to Afghanistan, as well as to Pristina, Kosovo, served as a liaison to the European Union’s anti-piracy task force, and advised on nuclear contingency response in Japan after the 2010 earthquake. He works now in Washington with the U.S. Department of Justice, after clerking for Judge Harry Pregerson on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. During his time at Stanford he worked with California Rural Legal Assistance and the US Attorney’s offices in Sacramento and Los Angeles.
