Javier Mendez

Originally from Southern California, Javier attended the University of California, Berkeley out of high school and also enlisted in the Army Reserve. After his sophomore year, he received orders for active duty and left school. After having spent three years on Active Duty, Javier returned to Berkeley and finished his Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies. Following this, Javier moved to San Antonio, Texas with his wife as she reported for her first duty station as an active duty Air Force optometrist. While in San Antonio, he completed his Master of Public Administration at the University of Texas at San Antonio. During his service, Javier attended Air Assault School and Drill Sergeant School. His last position was as a Drill Sergeant and he spent a year training recruits at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Currently, Javier works in higher education as a veteran services professional for an Ivy League university.
