John Rice is from the D.C. area and studied political science at Vanderbilt University. Upon graduation he commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Armor Corps and trained at Fort Benning Georgia. Once his military schooling was complete he was posted to Schofield Barracks Hawaii. He first served as a reconnaissance platoon leader and later as a troop executive officer. In this later position he was given the unique opportunity to stand up a new company. Over 1 year he built systems, teams, and equipment to generate the first dismounted reconnaissance troop in the history of his brigade. During this period John was accepted into Wharton’s MBA program. He retired from the Army as a captain and will begin at Wharton this fall.
