Lee was born and raise in Austin, Texas and joined the Navy as a Nuclear Machinist Mate after high school in 2010. After technical training at Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina and Nuclear Prototype Training Command (NNPTC) in Ballston Spa, NY, Lee was stationed on the fast attack submarine USS Columbia (SSN 771) based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Lee completed two Western Pacific deployments and performed roles as an Engineering Laboratory Technician, Division Leader, ship’s diver. After his service, Lee transitioned out of the Navy to the University of Houston, and eventually transferred to Columbia University’s School of General Studies to obtain his BA in Political Science and Statistics. On campus, Lee is a journalist at his school’s newspaper and member at the Columbia Society of Military Veterans. He intends to pursue a law degree after graduation.
