Mark Bruno

Mark was born and raised in the “Windy City”, Chicago, IL.  He attended DePaul University where he graduated with a B.S. in Business Management. After finishing his undergraduate studies, he accepted his commission in the United States Navy as a Supply Corps Officer. His first tour of duty was as the Assistant Supply Officer onboard the forward deployed amphibious warship, USS Tortuga (LSD-46), in Sasebo, Japan. As the “ASUPPO” on the Tortuga, where he managed daily business operations for the second largest department on his ship. After successfully completing his operational tour, Mark was selected to represent the U.S. Navy as a Supply Corps Personnel Exchange Program (PEP) Officer with the Brazilian Navy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Prior to reporting to his position in Brazil, he finished the Brazilian Portuguese Foreign Language Course at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey, CA. As a PEP officer, Mark was engrained in daily activities at the Brazilian Navy’s supply depot in Rio de Janeiro, where he managed a supply chain of healthcare articles. Next, Mark was selected as a lateral transfer to the U.S. Navy’s Foreign Area Officer (FAO) community, and designated a Latin American specialist. After finishing his tour in Brazil, he received follow-on orders to return to DLI for advanced Spanish language training, where he also spent several weeks abroad in Madrid, Spain. Upon his completion of the Spanish language course, Mark reported to the United States Office of Security Cooperation (OSC) at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia, as the Maritime Operations Planner. While in Colombia, he served as the principal operations planner between the U.S. Navy and the Colombian Navy, as well as managed a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case portfolio. After a successful tour where he received accolades from the U.S. and Colombian military, he received orders to report the U.S. Fleet Forces Command, in Norfolk, VA, as the Program Manager in the Fleet Strategy, Policy, and International Engagment Division (N5) on a 4-Star Staff. He is married, has a Brazilian dog named Feijão (Beans) and a Colombian cat named Frank. His professional interest are in Strategy Consulting, Entrepreneurship, and Investment Managemet. When Mark has free time, you can usually catch him traveling the world, scuba diving, and trying different ethnic foods.
