Prior to University of Michigan, Mikaela served for six years in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. During her time in the Navy, as well as during a 10 month round the world traveling experience, she became increasingly interested in the intersection of pressing social and environmental issues and business. Mikaela decided to pursue a dual MBA and MS degree at the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment (SNRE) and round out her interests with a formal education, as well as leverage skills that she had learned in the Navy to career shift into industry. Last year, Mikaela studied primarily at SNRE and was able to augment her school work and get involved with a variety of different projects including a multidisciplinary team for the School of Public Health’s Innovation in Action competition and student government. This past summer, she spent 10 weeks in Brazil conducting an internship on sustainable practices in the Brazilian cattle sector. This summer she will be interning at Deloitte in their Human Capital practice and as an MBA Across America fellow.
