Ryan serves as the CEO of Warrior-Scholar Project, a non-profit that runs academic boot camps to empower enlisted veterans pursuing undergraduate degrees. He graduated from University of Virginia School of Law in 2017 and joined the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn as a litigation associate upon graduation, working primarily in white collar defense, contract disputes, and privacy counseling. He also worked as a fellow at the John Marshal Veterans Legal Support Center & Clinic, providing legal services to veterans pursuing discharge upgrades and VA disability appeals.
Ryan served from 2005-2010 as an enlisted Marine, culminating in two deployments to Al-Anbar province in Iraq as an Arabic translator. Ryan then earned his BA from University of Michigan in International Studies. His teaching experience includes working as a Teach For America corps member at an inner-city Detroit high school and as an adjunct instructor at Virginia Military Institute.
