Sam grew up in New York City and graduated with a B.A. from the University of Chicago in 2005. After college he was commissioned into the Marine Corps, where he served as a rifle platoon commander in Anbar Province, Iraq and as an advisor to an Afghan National Army infantry company in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Sam recently received his J.D. from Stanford Law School and an M.S. from the National Intelligence University. He currently works as a judicial clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, continues to serve as a captain in the Marine Corps Reserve, and is a member of the Truman National Security Project Defense Council.
