Sebastian Calvo

A native of New Jersey and Florida, Sebastian enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in 2008, and was assigned to 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion in Tampa, FL. He graduated in December 2010 from the University of Tampa with a BS in Management and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He served on active duty as a Combat Engineer Officer from 2011-2018. His first duty station was 29 Palms, CA, where he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 374. He held the billets of Engineer Platoon Commander, and deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan with 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Upon return from Afghanistan he held the billet of Company Executive Officer. In 2015, he reported to Camp Pendleton, CA and checked into 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, immediately volunteering to deploy to Iraq on an advisor team. In 2016 he deployed to Al Anbar, Iraq and served the Engineer Advisor and Assistant Operations Officer for Task Force Al Asad. After returning from Iraq, he rejoined 1st Combat Engineer Battalion and served as a Company Commander until his EAS. Sebastian is an MBA candidate at NYU Stern (class of 2020) and he plans to pursue a career in consulting.
