Fueled by a passion for civic service, Thomas enlisted in the United States Navy two weeks after graduating from high school. After completing his initial schooling, Thomas reported overseas to his first command, homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. While onboard Blue Ridge, He fulfilled a variety of roles as an damage control petty officer and administrative assistant, among other duties.
In addition to his military responsibilities while in Japan, Thomas was an Tokyo Fellow and executive committee member of the Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies. he also attended two years of full time college with the University of Maryland Global Campus, studying history and political science.
Thomas now attends the University of Chicago, majoring in public policy. He enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and other generic adult activities.
