Waylon is a full-time student at New York University in the MPA Public and Nonprofit Program specializing in International Management and Policy. Presently he forms part of the Executive Board for Wagner’s veteran student organization, WagVets, and has actively participated in initiatives to address veteran issues at NYU. Prior to Wagner, Waylon served in a multifaceted U.S. Air Force career of 12 years. Living and working abroad for many years in several different countries, Waylon developed a deep passion for civic engagement and shaping communities through leadership development and mentorship. While living in Portland, Oregon, Waylon achieved a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Civic Leadership at Portland State University, worked for U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, and served as an advising member on the Oregon Air National Guard’s Diversity Council. He is interested in policies and public-private partnerships that lead to addressing the many issues veterans and youth face. In his off time he enjoys exploring the New York City, traveling, and engaging in many outdoor activities.
