American University Announces Partnership with Service to School’s VetLink Program
American University is proud to announce its partnership with Service to School’s VetLink program, which expands opportunities and access for highly qualified veterans transitioning to higher education. Through this partnership, American University will seek to increase the number of veterans enrolled in its undergraduate degree programs.
“We are thrilled to be a new partner with Service to School,” said Andrea Felder, Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Admissions. “We look forward to welcoming to AU academically talented student veterans who have served our country and will enrich our campus community with their service experiences.”
In 2019, American University embarked on its five-year strategic plan, Changemakers for a Changing World. In focusing on the student experience, American University is committed to ensuring terrific students join the AU community and that they thrive while at AU and when they graduate. By becoming a Service to School VetLink program partner, American University will increase its outreach to veterans and military-affiliated students who are an integral part of the AU community, bringing with them a unique perspective, intellectual diversity, and experience.
To support veterans with the transition to university life, American University offers several programs and resources to support students both academically and socially. In addition to multiple veterans’ education benefits, AU has proudly participated in the Yellow Ribbon Program since the program’s inception in 2008. On campus, veterans can find support through the Veterans Services’ Support Network, a group of faculty and staff members who ensure AU student veterans thrive in their academic pursuits. The Veteran’s Lounge provides a space for the AU military community to gather for camaraderie and mutual support toward achieving academic objectives.
Founded in 2011 by three military veterans and an admissions expert, S2S has grown to become a national non-profit that connects military veterans and service members with mentors to ensure veterans are being admitted to and attending the nation’s best colleges and graduate schools.
