Service to School Year-End Review

As the New Year kicks off, we at Service to School have been doing quite a bit of planning and assessing.  Like all good veterans, we assess our past to help us plan for the future.  And, like all good business people we know that past performance does not assure future success.  Looking backwards, 2012 has been an incredible year for Service to School.  We have had amazing success helping veterans transition to undergraduate and graduate schools, in all sorts of programs, including law and business schools.  We have grown our community through our Veteran Ambassador network and our blog readership.  We have also faced challenges, and have brought on some new leadership and made some exciting new plans to help us overcome our obstacles and help even more veterans in 2013.

First and foremost, we have had exhilarating victory in helping transitioning veterans win admission to the best school that they can.  For business school, we have helped veterans win admission into:

  • Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business
  • Harvard Business School
  • The Wharton School
  • Columbia’s Graduate School of Business
  • MIT’s Sloan School of Management
  • NYU’s Stern School of Business
  • Temple’s Fox School of Business
  • The Kellogg School of Management
  • Stanford’s Graduate School of Business

For law schools, our veterans have won admission to Harvard and Yale Law Schools.  We have even helped veterans win admissions to various graduate programs like Wake Forest’s Graduate Accounting Program and veterans into undergraduate schools like the University of Iowa.  This success has come in large part due to our strong community, which has grown immensely over the past year.

S2S helps veterans win admission through a community.  As veterans, we know the importance of working as a team.  We know that when we are weak our brothers and sisters in arms are there for us – we just have to reach out.  Working together, we fought and won overseas – now, as a team, we can face our battles here, together.  Our Veteran Ambassador network has grown by several hundred percent, and includes nearly all of the top 20 business schools, and many of the nations’ top law and graduate institutions.  Further our blog readership has increased and is now read in over 67 countries – one of our most popular articles To MBA or not To MBA, received hundreds of views across the world.  In the year, we published 20 new articles and even wrote for the New York Times At War Blog.

With this success, though, have come challenges.  We would like to expand both our undergraduate and social media efforts in 2013.  To achieve this, S2S has brought on new leadership.  Chad and Khalil have a wealth of experience that will help even more veterans gain admission to the best school possible.  We also hope to continue to expand our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn presence.

The end of 2012 also marks our 1.5 year anniversary.  We are very grateful to all our Veteran Ambassadors, friends, and family for making this venture a resounding success.  We are eager to expand, help more veterans, and build our community.  Thank you all!
