Veterans & Education Social Hour Recap: A Night of Connection & Inspiration
On March 14th, the vibrant atmosphere of The Painted Burro in Cambridge set the perfect stage for an unforgettable evening of connection, community, and inspiration. Student veterans, employers, and college admissions professionals came together to join us for an in-person networking event that was equal parts meaningful and fun.
Guests enjoyed food and drinks while engaging in powerful conversations, forging new relationships, and exploring future opportunities. The room was buzzing with energy as attendees connected over shared experiences and ambitions.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Nate Boyer and Marvin Gilmore, Jr., who both brought a remarkable presence to the evening. Marvin Gilmore, Jr. captivated the room as he shared his extraordinary life story — from landing on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, to his pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement, to opening Boston’s first Black-owned bank and founding the city’s first integrated nightclub, The Western Front. Marvin’s journey is a testament to resilience, courage, and leadership. His words left everyone in awe and served as a powerful reminder of the legacy and strength of the veteran community.
We’re also incredibly grateful to Shift Group for their generous sponsorship of this event and their continued support of veterans as they transition into new careers and educational pathways.

This was more than just a networking night — it was a celebration of service, a moment to honor stories that shaped history, and a chance to build bridges for the future. We can’t wait to host more events like this and continue growing our incredible community.
