What did you do in the military? Electronics Technician Nuclear

What has been the most rewarding thing about being a S2S Ambassador? Learning from my mentees about their lives and their motivation for going to college.

Why did you decide to volunteer with Service to School? A college education was vital for me to achieve my goals. Volunteering with Service to School has given me the opportunity to help other veterans reach their goals through a college education. A student veteran's experience can vary drastically from a traditional student and mentoring with Service to school has allowed me to relay my positive (and negative) experiences to better prepare veterans with not only the application process but also with what to expect in their transition.

How has your experience as an Ambassador been? My mentees have all been motivated and curious individuals. I am excited to see what this generation of veterans will be contributing to their country in the years to come!

Kellie's Veteran applicant shared some inspiring words on the impacts of Kellie's mentorship : “Her mentorship really helped me feel less alone in the process. She helped me with the essay writing, so I felt very supported and not at all like I had to reinvent the wheel alone.” – Robert Aldrich, University of Chicago, Fall 2023

Kellie's advice to veterans considering pursuing higher education

"Don't be afraid to apply to your dream college! Your life experiences offer a wealth of knowledge that many colleges are looking for."
