Brown Joins Service to School in Support of Veterans
Our Top Priority: Your Success as a Student
Mission: The mission of the Office of Military-Affiliated Students is to assist student veterans, ROTC cadets, and other military-affiliated students in making successful transitions into and out of the Brown community. We do this by offering programs and support services that facilitate learning opportunities within the military-affiliated and Brown community at large, connecting students to campus and community resources, and by supporting and advocating for our student veterans and ROTC cadets.
Vision: The Office of Military-Affiliated Students seeks to narrow the civil-military divide as future generations of Brown leaders, veteran and non-veteran alike, are provided the opportunity to learn alongside one another at Brown.
The Office of Military-Affiliated Students is directed by Kimberly Millette.
This office was established in January 2012 at the request of the Brown Corporation to “coordinate and direct services supporting veterans studying at Brown and Brown students participating in ROTC programs” (October 2011).
While initiated by Brown’s response to a review of ROTC, the Office is a campus resource for not just ROTC but for all United States military officer commissioning programs. Additionally, the Office serves student veterans, whether of the United States military or military service in other countries.
The Office supports all students — undergraduate, graduate, and medical — and also is available as a resource to faculty, staff, alumni/ae, and families of students.
In keeping with the University’s nondiscrimination policy, all services and programs of the Office are open to all members of the Brown community.
