How did you hear about S2S? My friend, Daniel Rockett

What was the best part of S2S for you? Being able to have a mentor guide me through my college essays and resume writing was the best and most beneficial part of this program. I love that there are programs like this available to help veterans like myself transition to college.

Why did you decide to pursue college? During my last two years in the Army, I knew that I wanted to leave the military to pursue other opportunities. A college education is a prerequisite to realize my career goals.

How has the transition been from the military to civilian life? Someone once told me, “The Army should be the best thing in your life, but not the only thing in your life.” I’m proud of my service, but attending a University has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m only 24, I need to live life to the fullest.

What are you most excited about in regard to starting college/ the school you are going to attend? I can’t wait to meet new people and experience the college life, especially after serving in the Army. I feel like I dreamed of this moment for so long. My favorite thing about Syracuse University is the school pride. I can’t wait to create life long memories.

What is your favorite part about the school you chose to matriculate at? My favorite thing about Syracuse University is the school pride. I can’t wait to create life long memories.

What advice would you give to future applicants? Set your goals high. Never let someone tell you “you can’t”. Don’t let someone’s negativity dictate your future. Lastly, be humble.

What are your goals post-graduation? I would like to attend a graduate program at an Ivy League school.
