What is your anticipated school and intended major? MBA at University of Pennsylvania: Wharton 2024
Fun Fact About Yourself: I write and play music. I used to play in the band Interstate 10 (on Spotify) and wrote a song for country artist Craig Morgan
What did you do in the military: Infantry Officer and Military Intelligence Officer
What was your proudest accomplishment in the military? Pouring my heart into being the best leader I could for my soldiers. I sat down with my soldiers to get to know them, learn about their families, backgrounds, and dreams for the future, and listen to what they thought worked and did not. I wanted everyone to understand that their voice was heard, that their opinion mattered, and most importantly, I wanted my team to know that I cared and that the work they did was valued.
What was the biggest benefit to using Service to School throughout the application process? Having access to fellow veterans who have gone before you and are willing to lend a helping hand to help you achieve your goals.
What are you most excited about in regards to starting school? What’s your favorite part about the school you chose to matriculate at? I am excited to learn about and dive headfirst into the world of business. I am excited to pivot into something different from what I have done for the last 10 years in the military.
What are your goals post-graduation? I plan to join a strategy consulting firm focused on media & entertainment and the public sectors to help me gain exposure and experience solving complex problems before pivoting towards leading inclusive teams in the UN or NATO or the music and film industries.
Andrews' advice for veterans who are applying to college:
Despite the potential insecurities prospective applicants might have regarding their grades, I am here to let them know that they should not limit their options. I was insecure over my MBA application for the last ten years, yet tenacity and perseverance saw me through. With a bit of hard work, they can do it too.
I was able to go back and forth with my Ambassador, bouncing essay ideas, resume drafts, and school choices off him. He never failed to provide me with feedback, suggestions, and edits in a timely manner. He was an invaluable resource.
