Hometown: Rockville, MD

When did you graduate and what are you doing now current post-graduation? I graduated from Amherst College in 2021 with a B.A. in Political Science. I am currently working as a consultant at Kantar.

What did you do in the military? USMC Infantryman

Why did you decide to pursue your school? was attracted to Amherst College because of the small class sizes, open curriculum, and institutional support of veteran students.

Why did you decide to volunteer with Service to School? Navigating the college admissions process and postgrad life presented a number of challenges. I would not have made it to where I am without the help of other veterans who paved the way for me. I understand the challenges that a lot enlisted veterans go through and want to be in their corner while they transition.

How has your experience as an Ambassador been? It’s a rewarding experience to connect with transitioning veterans and assist them through the obstacles of college admissions and life post-military.

Steven’s Veteran applicant shared some inspiring words on the impacts of Steven’s mentorship: “Without Steven’s help, my application wouldn’t be near what it was. Steven was not only there to look over essays but he helped me with resumes for internships, discussing my benefits, how to prepare mentally for school, and was there when I felt like nobody could relate to what I was going through. Steven was not only a mentor, but the voice of reason in an extremely stressful and confusing time. To have somebody who transitioned successfully be so selfless and communicative and embrace their roots through service is incredible. Steven is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. He was always there, always supportive in many ways, and provided insight into chasing one of my biggest dreams in life, which is going to acting school. To say the Steven and Service to School are a blessing is an understatement.” – Nicholas Filca, University of Michigan 2026
